What Does It Mean to Be Trauma-Informed?
At Broadhollow Psychotherapy, we know that healing is more than words. Trauma does not always respond to logic or conversation alone; it can show up in the body, in relationships, and in the way you move through the world. Being Trauma-informed means we honor that truth. We create safety, listen deeply, respect your pace, and treat you as a whole person, not a problem to be solved. Healing begins when you are understood, not rushed, and when change can take root in ways that feel real and lasting

Individual Therapy
Life brings challenges that can feel overwhelming — whether it’s trauma,
anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, or major life transitions. Individual therapy provides a one-onone space to slow down, reflect, and find new ways forward.
Together, we’ll focus on building resilience, strengthening self-awareness, and reconnecting with your authentic self. For some, this means exploring past experiences; for others, it’s learning to manage stress, improve relationships, or navigate transitions. We also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a proven approach to healing trauma.
Couples Therapy
Relationships are complex, and even strong partnerships can face stress or
disconnection. Couples therapy provides a space to explore patterns, strengthen
communication, and repair trust.
In sessions, we identify cycles that keep you stuck and develop new ways to connect with honesty and empathy. Some couples arrive wanting to stay together, others to separate thoughtfully. Wherever you land, couples therapy creates a structured environment for making intentional choices together.
Substance Use Support
Substance use affects both individuals and families. Our services provide compassionate, nonjudgmental care that addresses recovery and healing.
We recognize substance use is often tied to deeper experiences of trauma or stress. Our approach integrates recovery-focused therapy with trauma-informed care. Clients gain insight into patterns and build coping strategies, while families find space to talk openly and repair relationships. Whether you’re starting recovery, maintaining it, or supporting someone else, we provide tools and support aligned with your goals.
EMDR & EMDR Intensives
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps clients process distressing memories and reduce their emotional impact. Many people find EMDR allows them to move forward in ways talk therapy alone cannot.
In addition to weekly sessions, we offer EMDR Intensives for clients seeking accelerated progress. These extended sessions create momentum in a shorter time frame, especially for long-standing trauma or high-stress transitions. Whether weekly or intensive, EMDR offers a structured pathway to healing.
ADHD Therapy Intensive
ADHD affects focus, organization, relationships, and self-esteem. Our ADHD Therapy Intensive is a private, three-hour session designed to provide clarity and
strategies in a single day.
We’ll map your ADHD profile, explore patterns, and develop personalized tools you can use immediately. Each intensive includes a follow-up plan to help carry progress into daily life. This service is ideal for jump-starting change or preparing for transitions.
Reiki
Healing isn’t only about the mind — the body and spirit are essential, too. Reiki is an energy-based practice that supports balance, reduces stress, and restores calm.
In a Reiki session, gentle hand placements or hovering techniques help release blocked energy and invite relaxation. Reiki can stand on its own or complement therapy, offering a wholeperson approach that honors both science and spirit.
Know Your ACEs: Trauma Recovery Group
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) shape how we see ourselves and the world. This 6-week therapy group, led by Sheri-Ann Best, LCSW, provides a supportive space for women to understand and heal the impact of trauma. Through somatic resourcing, narrative therapy, and guided reflection, participants gain tools to reduce shame, increase safety, and strengthen resilience. Know Your ACEs offers both education and connection, reminding women that healing happens in community.
ADHD Parent Support
Parenting a child with ADHD can feel overwhelming and isolating. ADHD Parent Support helps caregivers gain clarity, reduce conflict, and develop practical strategies.
We offer both individual sessions and a structured 4-session parent group. In the group, parents learn how the ADHD brain works, explore common challenges, and practice strategies for smoother family life. Individual sessions provide tailored support for unique needs. Our goal is to help parents move from frustration to empathy, confidence, and stronger connection with their child.
Bottom-Up Beginnings: Somatic Trauma Recovery Group
Healing begins in the body. Bottom-Up Beginnings is a four-hour workshop that introduces trauma survivors to somatic practices for calming the nervous system, releasing tension, and restoring balance.
Each workshop blends trauma-conscious yoga, breathwork, and grounding with moments of reflection and integration. Participants move at their own pace, with adaptations available for comfort. By the end, participants leave with practical techniques for resilience and a renewed sense of connection.
"We provide compassionate, evidenced-based care to help you heal, grow and thrive."

If you are feeling anxious,
panicked, or on edge
Your nervous system is in a protective, high-alert state. These techniques signal safety to your body.
Physiological Sigh
Polyvagal / Respiratory Research
- Take a full inhale through your nose.
- At the top, take a second short sniff to fully expand your lungs.
- Release a long, slow exhale through your mouth until your lungs are empty.

Extended Exhale Breathing
Polyvagal Theory
- Inhale for 4 counts through your nose.

Cold Water Reset
Somatic / Autonomic Regulation
- Run cold water over your wrists and inside of your forearms for 30 seconds.
- Alternatively, splash cold water on your face.

Bilateral Tapping
EMDR / Somatic
- Cross your arms over your chest, hands resting near your shoulders.
- Alternate tapping left, right, left, right at a slow, steady rhythm.
